In the first quarter of 2022, the top five News and Magazines applications on the Android platform in Hungary exhibited diverse performance trends in terms of downloads and active users. Here’s a closer look at the metrics for each app, with data sourced from Sensor Tower.

24.hu - Friss hírek from Central Médiacsoport Zrt. experienced a significant spike in weekly downloads, peaking at 18.6K in the week of December 27. The downloads saw a sharp decline in January, reaching a low of 197 in the week of January 24, before picking up again in late February with 1.9K downloads and stabilizing around 713 by the end of March.

SQUID - News & Magazines had a consistent performance in weekly downloads, starting strong with 8.2K in the last week of December. The downloads dipped in January but recovered to a stable range of 540 to 779 downloads in February, maintaining around 552 downloads in the last week of March. The app's weekly active users started at 9.4K in late December and saw a dip to 2.1K in mid-January, but gradually increased to around 4.1K by the end of March.

Telex showed a notable increase in weekly downloads, particularly in the week of February 21 with 2.2K downloads. The downloads fluctuated throughout the quarter, peaking again at 1K by the end of March.

Fox News International saw a gradual increase in weekly downloads, starting from a modest 29 in late December and reaching a peak of 1.8K in mid-March. The weekly active users followed a similar upward trend, beginning at 32 in late December and growing to 976 by mid-March, before slightly stabilizing to 945 by the end of the quarter.

Index.hu had a strong presence in terms of weekly active users, starting at 28.2K in late December and peaking at 44.4K in the week of February 21. The app’s weekly downloads also saw a surge, peaking at 2K in late February, before stabilizing around 1.3K by the end of March.
